The Concept of Death and its Consequent Realization

Image
The Concept of Death and its Consequent Realization. This picture was taken at the Arlington Cemetery in Arlington, VA. I accidentally left my camera with B&W on, and it turned out to be one of my favorite pictures I have ever taken. Standing there with the vast amount of graves surrounding me really puts into perspective how life is a simple moment and it is gone. As the last post of my blog wraps up this project, I urge the reader to take a look at what makes them happy. What creates the euphoric memories in their head. Whatever is the passion that makes you happy and fills you with joy. Just do it, live to the absolute fullest.

Reflection

Image
Reflection. As is the case with all of the pictures featured on this site, there is a hidden message behind them. Every moment that I take a picture there is a certain emotion that I am trying to captivate, it might not be the emotion at the moment, but what the sight means to me. The reflection pond in Washington DC where this was taken has a double meaning. We get to reflect on the history of America, a country built on the back of slaves. A country that is considered the greatest in the world but is riddled with flaws. A country that desperately needs to take a moment and reflect upon its values and where we are headed. All it takes is a moment of reflection.

Canyons and the Void to fill

Image
Filling the Void There seems to be this beauty and level of calmness, for those who are not shy of heights, looking into the beautiful and empty void that is the grand canyon. When looked upon from the eye of a romantic, one can't help but be flooded with the pure largeness of the site. All the events that it has seen, the age and beauty of every outline and canyon peak. The pure feeling that you get any time you stare into the vast depths of nature, that feeling that you are but a little speck of dust in a tiny spot that is the Earth. Something about this feeling has a way of making you feel like your problems don't exist. It gives you existential freedom.

Portraits in Nature

Image
Portraits in Nature Nature carries its own powerful aesthetic that is often unreplaceable. I have always been a great fan of landscape shots and nature backgrounds, and as my friends started to see my work they quickly wanted me to do photoshoots for them. I decided to tell them I would only do them if they were out on locations with greenery or something to take in. Up to this day, I have not yet used a studio to do personal shots, it's because I don't like staging a shot, I like to capture the moment. Photography for me is a token of time, when I snap away I'm saving a specific emotion and feeling, capturing the moment in its rawest form. It's one of the truest art forms. These 4 shots are some of my favorite ones, the two to the left are in the US-27 and the 2 to the right are in Coral Gables by Books & Books. Each photo takes into consideration its surroundings and emotion. For a picture to be successful, the expression must be authentic, you can't fak...

Sunsets and their Significance

Image
SUNSETS AND THEIR SIGNIFICANCE      I have been doing photography for about 3 years now, and I can tell you that I always rely on natural light to take my pictures. Yet I have an absolute obsession with sunsets and what they mean. There is this juxtaposition between the sunrise where the light begins to break, and the sunset as the sky becomes ablaze with all the troubles of the day and all the inconveniences and just like that, you say goodbye to the day and prepare yourself for another moment. I have fallen in love with the idea of sunsets, not only because they are aesthetically beautiful, but also because of their meaning to me. Life has taught me to live every single day for that day's worth, to take in every moment, and appreciated every occurrence. Sunsets for me are the end of a page. Everything that the day threw at me ended with a period, leaving the audience...
